A visual artist, jazz vocalist, poet, playwright and historian, Walden (a.k.a "Blinky") is a Chicago native now residing in Jacksonville. This exhibition runs from August 19 through October 10 and is sponsored by The Art Center Cooperative, Inc.

And now we want to share these images in the exhibition "Our Florida." The Art Center Cooperative and Jacksonville Artists' Guild present the "Our Florida" fine art exhibition in the Gallery at Main Library from August 3 through September 24.
In celebration of Jacksonville's official Bicentennial, Jacksonville Public Library is pleased to host "Jacksonville Past and Present," an exhibition of local artists from June 1 through July 31 in the Gallery at Main Library. The show was organized by the Arts Center Cooperative and the Jacksonville Artists Guild with financial support from Farah & Farah, Vystar Credit Union, and others. Around 100 individual pieces were submitted for consideration. Judges from the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) selected 70 for the exhibit. Six finalists will be announced at the opening reception on Wednesday, June 1 during Art Walk from 6 - 8 p.m. The Best in Show, Second and Third Place as well as 3 "Judges' Recognition" will be awarded on the main stage at the Bicentennial Street Festival & Fireworks event on June 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Riverfront Plaza. Winners will receive $2000 in prize money with $1000 going to Best in Show.
Jacksonville Public Library and Duval County Public Schools present the Best of Middle School Art Exhibit, opening to the public running April 13 through May 7. The exhibit includes a juried selection of over 135 pieces from twelve local schools. There will also be around 120 student artworks displayed digitally. Check out this exhibit in the "Gallery at Main," located on the first floor of the Main Library just outside the entrance to the Teen Room. A reception will be held for student artists and their families on Saturday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m. with refreshments provided by Southeastern Grocers.
The annual Best of Elementary Art Show is a celebration of childhood, creativity, and the fantastic work of students in the visual art programs at Duval County Public Schools. Starting Friday, March 11, one or more pieces of artwork from every elementary school student will be put on display for the public at most of library locations throughout the City. Following the library art show, a virtual exhibition will be available to share and enjoy.
The 2022 Northeast Florida Scholastic Art Awards' must-see Gold Key Exhibition opens at the Main Library on Saturday, February 12. Hundreds of "Gold Key" (or first-place) paintings, photographs, sculptures, and other mixed-media masterpieces created by middle and high school student-artists from across eight counties in Northeast Florida will be on display for the public in galleries on the first and second floor.
The exhibit will run during library hours through Saturday, March 5.
The Library will be open until 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, for Art Walk.
The Jacksonville Public Library is pleased to partner with Duval County Public Schools to bring the Best of Middle School Art to the library this Spring. Please note: there will be no art receptions scheduled this year. A juried selection of 169 pieces will be on display - representing the best middle school student art from the past year from the roughly 50 area middle schools. The exhibit will run April 17 through May 9 and can be viewed at the "Gallery at Main," which is located on the first floor of the Main Library by entrance to the Teen Space.
A set of eight illustrated text panels tells the stories of seven documented racial terror lynchings in Duval County between 1909 and 1925 and the historical context in which they occurred. This exhibit is a spin-off of the larger MOSH exhibition, The Legacy of Lynching: Confronting Racial Terror in America. Exhibit is located at Main Library, 4th floor atrium (across from the Grand Reading Room) and runs March 30 through May 2.
