#Come Celebrate Art by Walden

Join us on the second and third floors of the Main Library (Betty Francis Art Galleries) on September 7 from 6 - 8 p.m. for the opening reception of "From One Extreme to Another" featuring the work of Laurence Walden. A visual artist, jazz vocalist, poet, playwright and historian, Walden (a.k.a "Blinky") is a Chicago native now residing in Jacksonville. He also served in the United States Air Force as a Technical Illustrator and with the Air Force Jazz Band.

His work has been exhibited in competitions and exhibits around the world. Walden is currently creating the majority of the art featured throughout the newly renovated Dunns-Josephine Hotel in historic Overtown in Miami, Florida. He has also just rendered a mural - A Tribute to African American Veterans Who Have Served in Every War. It can be found on the east wall of the building on 531 W Union St. here in Jacksonville.

The exhibition runs from August 19 through October 10 and is sponsored by The Art Center Cooperative, Inc.
