Discover Features of the New Website Design

You asked for a more mobile and user friendly website and we answered. The Jacksonville Public Library has launched an improved website to better serve your needs. Besides the new mobile responsive design, the new site now looks like an actual website (imagine that)! Before, the website was definitely informational, but hard to use. We've kept the same great information and resources, but presented in a format that is easier to navigate and more pleasant to look at!

Some of the new features to better serve you are:

The day is almost here! November 29, 2016 is a day set aside to help others through the gift of your time, donations, goods, or your voice. YOU can make a difference!

Unexpected Gifts

We’re always telling you just how much we appreciate you. We value your support, as customers, as readers, as general supporters for the library. Recently we got a little love back when Rita Offindani sent us some mementos all the way from Tenerife which is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands! The box was filled with art. Each piece was so dynamic but don't just take our word for it, see for yourself!

Be Kind Challenge Ahead!

The stage has been set, the gauntlet thrown and we want to see you rise to the occasion! It's summertime and our theme is Build a Better World. We have a lot of programs at your local library for kids and adults to celebrate the summer, but we have a special challenge for you, a Kindness Challenge.

So that's what a book club is supposed to be like!

Stacey Goldring, host of the monthly First Coast Connect Book Club on 89.9 WJCT and creator of the Chapter Endnotes Bookclub generously invited me to attend one of her meetings a few months ago. What I experienced totally changed my perspective about what book clubs are and what they're supposed to be!

What makes a good library great? Without question, it is the support the library receives from private citizens who understand and value the essential role a library plays in the life of the community.

The Rest of the Story

The Florida Times-Union published an article on Sept. 21 titled “Library down to last page in budget: Patrons could be final chance for system to avoid big cuts.” While it was accurate and we appreciate the Times-Union bringing the library’s budget crisis to the attention of readers, the figures in the accompanying chart were based on Fiscal Year 2009 data contained in the Capacity Plan Study by Godfrey’s Associates.
