Library cardholders have one year to read 12 books from among 16 categories and earn prizes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., January 4, 2024 — Are you ready for an all-new Jax Stacks Reading Challenge, DUUUVAL? Jacksonville Public Library has launched the 2024 Jax Stacks Reading Challenge with cool prizes for library cardholders who read 12 books from among 16 fresh categories by the end of the year.

Crossing the finish line is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Choose 12 categories that interest you most. (including a book by a Jacksonville author, a book you read as a child, a cookbook, and more!
  2.  Read one book that fits each category— for a total of 12 books—and track it on your Jax Stacks Bookmark (available at any Jacksonville Public Library location.).
  3. Snap a picture of your completed list and email it to the library by December 31, 2024!

That's it! Winners will select from prizes like branded totes, mugs, tumblers, or sunglasses (while supplies last), and everyone who completes the challenge gets a 50% off coupon to the Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library Bookstore.

Participating in the challenge helps improve readers' mental health, builds a strong vocabulary, reduces stress, and models good reading behavior, which supports Mayor Deegan's River City Readers citywide challenge by encouraging children to build the literacy skills they need to succeed.

Get started today by visiting www.jaxpubliclibrary.org/jaxstacks or stop by your local Jacksonville Public Library location. Happy reading!
