Solar Eclipse Safety

# Solar Eclipse Safety

While Jacksonville may not be on the path of the total eclipse, we can still witness this incredible celestial event on Monday! If you’re planning to view the eclipse, remember to prioritize your safety. Here are some precautions to keep in mind from our friends at JaxReady:

# Do:

  • Use eclipse glasses or solar viewers that meet ISO-12312-2 standards.
  • Use your hands to cast shadows on the ground.
  • Take breaks and give your eyes a break.
  • Pay attention to the road if traveling while the eclipse occurs.

# Don’t:

  • Look at the sun directly!
  • View through regular sunglasses, no matter how dark they are.
  • View through your camera viewfinder.
  • View through a telescope without a proper solar filter.
