Replacing Carpet, Upgrading Teen Computers, and Other Improvements Planned
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 27, 2017 – The Jacksonville Public Library will suspend service at the Murray Hill Branch Library from Feb. 10 through Feb. 22 in order to replace the carpet throughout the branch and make other upgrades to computers and furniture.

Students Will Engage in a “A Decade of Dots” Competitions and Activities to Celebrate the Tenth Year of the Florida Braille Challenge
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 27, 2017 – The Jacksonville Public Library is pleased to host the North Florida Regional Braille Challenge for a third consecutive year. Schools in Duval, St. Johns and Clay counties will send more than 50 kindergarten through high school students to compete. The Main Library is one of four regional Florida hosts for the 2017 competition, which is themed “A Decade of Dots.”

Since 2006, this 24-hour celebration has mobilized over 17 million people, and Jumpstart holds the world reading record for the most people reading the same book on the same day.

Mandie McKenzie, CMP, Brings ‘Passion of Excellence’ to New Role
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 18, 2016 – The Jacksonville Public Library welcomes Mandie McKenzie, CMP, as the newly appointed manager of the Conference Center at the Main Library. McKenzie will oversee sales and marketing and operations for the downtown destination venue, which encompasses 20,000 square feet and includes ballroom/multipurpose space, meeting rooms, a courtyard, auditorium, and more, available for public library events and for private rental.
