Board of Library Trustees Announces New Officers, New Ex Officio Members (Sept. 14, 2016)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 14, 2016 – The Jacksonville Public Library Board of Library Trustees (BOLT) has announced its new officers and new ex officio members. Serving as board officers are Ronnie King, II, as chair; Timothy “Tim” J. Anderson as vice chair; and Mario J. Payne as secretary. The board also has two new ex officio members: City Council Members Katrina Brown and Tommy Hazouri. BOLT member Sybil Ansbacher will assume the role as liaison to the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation. The new roles will become effective Oct. 1, 2016.

Library Staff and Guests to Celebrate 27 Years of Calendar’s Publication

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 14, 2016 – Jacksonville Public Library staff and honored guests will gather for the library’s unveiling of the 2016 Jacksonville Black History Calendar which continues to be a vital resource documenting the achievements and events in the annals of Jacksonville’s African-American community. This is the 27th annual unveiling and the ninth to be held at the library.

Competitions and Activities Will Engage Students “For the Love of Braille”

 

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 25, 2016 – The Jacksonville Public Library is pleased to host the North Florida Regional Braille Challenge for a second consecutive year. Schools in Duval, St. Johns and Clay counties will send more than 50 kindergarten through high school students to compete. The Main Library is one of four regional Florida hosts for the 2016 competition, which is themed “For the Love of Braille.”

The 4th Annual Beaches Library Comic Con promises to be bigger and better than ever with additional activities, demonstrations and contests. Willowbranch Branch Library kicks off its inaugural Comic Con with a special appearance by 8-year-old Natalie McGriff, 2015 One Spark winner and author of Moxie McGriff.
