At our upcoming history programs, we’re discussing Giant Ground Sloths and Bermuda Triangle extraterrestrial activity. Bet you didn’t think you’d learn about these topics at the library. These aren’t your average history lectures!
Unless you’ve journeyed up to the fourth floor of our Main Library, you may not know about our extensive map collection. The Lewis Ansbacher Map Collection features over 240 antiquarian maps from all over the world.
The Jacksonville Public Library’s (JPL) Main branch is an extraordinary building – a crown jewel of downtown. Walk through the front doors on Laura Street and be wowed by the expanse of the building, its elegance and charm. Nestled on the fourth floor of the building is another gem, the Morris Ansbacher Map Room which houses an extensive collection of maps known as the Lewis Ansbacher Map Collection. The Ansbacher family has generously donated this collection of maps to the library to make them available to the community.
