The Jacksonville Public Library’s (JPL) Main branch is an extraordinary building – a crown jewel of downtown. Walk through the front doors on Laura Street and be wowed by the expanse of the building, its elegance and charm. Nestled on the fourth floor of the building is another gem, the Morris Ansbacher Map Room which houses an extensive collection of maps known as the Lewis Ansbacher Map Collection. The Ansbacher family has generously donated this collection of maps to the library to make them available to the community.

“Never let up,” Mira Nair told Nadia Ramoutar a fellow filmmaker located in Saint Augustine. These words ring in Ramoutar’s ears as she gets closer and closer to finding representation for "It’s Huge," a documentary she recently completed. “It’s a long journey from film to screen,” Ramoutar said and after talking with Nair she "feels less daunting.”
Lorena Inclán, a reporter with CBS47/FOX30 Action News Jax, delivered an inspirational message at the Main Library on Feb. 1 to help launch this year’s JAX READS!/NEA Big Read initiative. The event announced The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, the novel that the entire community will be reading and discussing together through March 11.
