This Giving Tuesday, support your library! The Jacksonville Public Library Foundation invites you to give to your public library system. Help us continue to provide books, children’s programming, adult education, and more.
Whether your passion is books, literacy, children's programs, or technology the Foundation can help you fund your passion. Your support helps pay for enhanced programs, services, equipment, and collections at all of the Jacksonville Public Library (JPL) branches.

In the very early morning hours of Sept. 24, the City Council approved the Fiscal Year 2015 budget for the City of Jacksonville. After much debate, the Council voted to restore the previously approved budget lapse, which for the library would have meant $349,638 less to spend next year. Unfortunately, the across-the-board cut to overtime and the 10 percent reduction in the part-time budget remains.
The Board of Library Trustees and the library administration appreciate Mayor Alvin Brown including the Jacksonville Public Library in his proposed budget, which he presented to the City Council July 14. In his remarks, the mayor publicly recognized our libraries as “vital educational institutions in the community—serving people of all ages, from all walks of life and from all across the city.”
