Two Comic Cons, Same Day (April 24, 2017)


Beaches Branch Library Hosts Fifth Comic Con, No. 2 for Willowbranch Branch Library

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 24, 2017 – The Jacksonville Public Library is again doubling your fandom fun with not one, but two Comic Cons for all ages on May 6. Both events promise to be bigger and better than ever with new performers, activities and things to see such as life-sized TARDIS replicas, courtesy of Hangar 18 Props, at both locations.

It’s also free comic book day at Superhero Beach and Superhero Hive comic stores. Visitors to the Beaches Branch Library event can take free shuttle rides to Superhero Beach comic store to get a free comic. Superhero Hive comic store in Riverside is within walking distance of the Willowbranch Branch Library.


WHEN:          Saturday, May 6, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

                      11:30 a.m. – Fletcher High School band performance in the parking lot

                      Noon – Special effects demonstrations by Jay Woodley, special effects expert

                       12:30 p.m. – Last Council Saber Academy presentation and Q&A

                       1:00 p.m. – Jax Fan Podcast – panel discussion about fandom podcasts

                       1:30 p.m. – Team trivia contest sponsored by Trivia Nation

                       2:15 p.m. – Costume parade

                       2:45 p.m. – Live costume judging and awards

All day – Local graphic artists and authors, TARDIS replica, green screen photo ops, 3-D printing demos, scavenger hunts, storytimes, crafts, food trucks and more. Find out more at
