Donnie Horner III Appointed to Board of Library Trustees

Jacksonville, Fla., Oct. 24, 2018 – Jacksonville Public Library is pleased to announce that Donnie Horner III has joined the Board of Library Trustees, effective Sept. 13, 2018. He was appointed by Mayor Lenny Curry and confirmed by the City Council.

"Donnie's experience in public service and in business made him a natural fit for the open role on the library's board of trustees," said Mayor Curry. "I look forward to seeing how his expertise helps our city engage with its vital literacy and learning resource."

Horner is a national sales representative at Beaver Street Fisheries with a focus on retail grocery partnerships. His accounts include Fortune 500 companies, small family owned businesses, and sole proprietorships. An experienced sales and marketing professional, he travels extensively and is responsible for executing the company's strategic sales initiatives.

Public service is an important part of Horner’s life. He and his wife, Dr. Kristen Horner, are Bronze Circle members of the Florida Forum, which benefits Wolfson Children's Hospital. Horner’s prior community involvement includes board stints at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Propeller Club, and Jacksonville University's Alumni Board of Governors. He also serves as vice chairman of the River Club in Jacksonville, and as president of the Naval Academy's Class of 2008.

Horner earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2008, and a Master of Business Administration from Jacksonville University in 2011. He is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Jacksonville and ran for the Florida House of Representatives in 2016. Horner and his wife reside in Jacksonville Beach.

He replaces former Board of Library Trustee Gerald Reid.
