Library Closure Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are the libraries all closed?

Yes. All Jacksonville Public Library locations are closed until further notice. This decision was made with Mayor Curry to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.

When will the libraries reopen?

At this time there is no reopen date.

I had materials due after the day the library closed. Will I be charged overdue fines?

No. Loan periods are being extended for all materials that were still on loan when the library closed for this situation.

I had materials that were already overdue when the library closed. Will I be charged overdue fees until I return them?

No. Overdue fees that would normally add up will be waived for any days that the library is closed for this situation.

If I want to return materials to the library book drops while the library is closed, can I?

Yes. Library book drops are open and being cleared regularly. Please note that items may not be checked back in immediately so they may still show as borrowed on your library account. You will not be charged overdue fines for these items.

I had materials on hold when the library closed. Will I be able to get them when it reopens?

Yes. Right now all materials on hold will remain on hold until the library reopens.

I received a notice that my hold is ready for me. Can I get it?

No. At this time we do not have a process to check out physical materials. You will be able to pick up your held item(s) when the library reopens.
