JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 30, 2017 – The Jacksonville Public Library is proud to announce that Jill Dame, CEO of Leadership Jacksonville, has joined the Board of Library Trustees as an At-Large member. Dame began her term as a trustee this month after confirmation by the Jacksonville City Council.
Dame’s previous employment has included practicing law, teaching, consultancy for nonprofit organizations, and interim executive directorship for nonprofits. She has been actively involved in the Junior League of Jacksonville, PACE Center for Girls Jacksonville, the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida, Willing Hands, Girls on the Run of Northeast Florida, Episcopal School of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Women’s Network, The Meninak Club of Jacksonville, and the Florida Bar.
An active member of the community, Dame is a past recipient of the Junior League of Jacksonville’s Tillie Fowler Community Leadership Award, Leadership Jacksonville’s Distinguished Leadership Award, JCCI’s 2005 Milestones Award for work as Chair of the Role of Nonprofit Organizations Study Implementation, was named Folio Weekly’s Person of the Year in 2001, and was chosen as a 2013 Woman of Distinction by Girl Scouts of Gateway Council and as a 2014 Woman of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal.
Dame received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude (English and History) from Queens University of Charlotte, a Juris Doctor degree with honors from the University of Florida College of Law, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Jacksonville University.
She replaces former trustee and most recently Board Chair, Erin Vance Skinner, who served from 2009 – 2016.
About the Board of Library Trustees
The Board of Library Trustees is comprised of volunteers who serve as the policy and planning body for the Jacksonville Public Library system. There are 12 voting members and at least two non-voting members who serve in an ex officio capacity. Non-voting members are the city council president or a designee and up to one additional council member, and the superintendent of schools or a designee. Trustees are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. Each trustee serves a four-year term and may serve a total of two consecutive terms.
