November Staff Picks

Each month we feature a series of books chosen by our fabulous staff. Once a week our literary mavens will be featured on our social media channels. At the end of every month we compile them for you right here; that way you won’t miss a single book! These choices are some of their favorite books and authors or reads they need to share with others. This month we were giving thanks for some of our most avid young readers and trying to appease the dinos! Find the selection from this month below, and if you want to see what our librarians have recommended in the past check out our blog!

August from Beaches takes a walk down memory lane with Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey for her #JPLPicks. She said, "My grandmother read this book to me many times before bed and it was the very first book I read aloud to her once I learned how. " Find a copy here:

Written by the author of World War Z, Danny from Main says, The Island expertly takes the reader through the experience of finding yourself on an island made of blocks. From panic to acceptance to confidence, it's all here.” Don't take Danny's word for it, check out a copy of your own:

We are thankful for young readers! Meet Elijah O. who is a participant in the new Pablo Creek Children’s book club! We're featuring him for our #JPLPicks this week! He read the October book selection Judy Moody and the Bucket List by Megan McDonald. He came by the library to return his book and he wanted to show off the Flag Football MVP medal he received for his team’s first win of the season! Thanks for being a dedicated reader, Elijah!

The Dinos at Beaches Branch are in rare form thanks to #Dinovember, in fact, they've inspired our#JPLPicks for the week! Librarian Terry Welch spotted some Dinos checking out a book, apparently, they said, "Crichton made us feel alive!" Check out the book or DVD today:
