Find love between the pages as popular romance authors discuss their novels, and share writing and publishing tips during Summer Sizzlin’ Romance at the Main Library, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Everyone will find something to fancy at Sizzlin’ Summer Romance. For those inclined to write off romance novels as “too simplistic,” the insightful words of Maya Angelou, “Easy reading is damn hard writing,” have never seemed more apt, especially when you consider that romance is the No. 1 selling genre of all fiction. Just look at The New York Times Best-Sellers lists!

Readers and writers have a genuine love affair with romance novels. That’s why the library hosts author events and workshops, houses a local author collection, offers SELF-e publishing for indie authors, and continually updates its collection—hard copies and digital formats.

The library collection currently boasts nearly 39,000 romance novels, including contemporary, erotic, fantasy, historical, inspirational, LGBTQ, paranormal, spiritual, suspense and other subgenres. With a focus on relationships and positive expectations, romance novels—with their predictable happy endings—never go out of style!
