Let Us See Those Book Faces!

At the Library there’s one thing that brings us together – our love of books! Being a bastion of books, we are often offered Advanced Readers Copies of upcoming best sellers. While we love those advanced reads, we know that you do too! We wanted to pass on that perk to you, but how would we tell who the biggest book nerd is?! It immediately made us think of the wonderful Book Face craze sweeping shelves everywhere.

To enter, find a book cover with an image that you can continue - using your body or face, like the example below. Then, snap a picture and use #jaxbookface to enter. Winners will be notified the first week of the month via social media. Prize books will be available for pick up at our ArtWalk table at the Main Library. If you are unable to make it that day, that’s fine, we’ll figure out another way!

That said, there are a few simple steps to creating a rewarding Book Face.

Pick a book!

This might sound like the easiest part, but don’t get discouraged if you are having trouble finding a good book cover. If you are finding it challenging, here’s a handy resource  This particular list on Good Reads features a bunch of bookthat have covers with people’s faces. However, it doesn’t have tobe a face! Choose a torso, or legs, or hands! Just make sure you can make it look like your own body part, which leads us into step two!

Line the book up to match the person’s face or body.

Make the shot artsy, silly, funny, whatever fits your book cover! If you find yourself as the camera person you may have to move around to get the best angle that aligns the face, torso, legs of the person holding the book. Heck, you may even need a third person here to hold the book, depending on the perspective of the image on the cover! Take a few shots just to make sure you’ve gotten one you like.

You’ve done it, you have your very own Book Face!

The last and most important step is to post it on social media using the hashtag #JaxBookFace. We’ll be checking Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, if you get it out there, we’ll see it!

We look forward to seeing your submissions, may the best #JaxBookFace win!
