“In our society it is important for us to fight the negativity intentionally and one of the ways we can do that is recommend books. We call it Kindness Literacy. ”
Kindness Literacy, have you heard of it? Neither had we.
Born out of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy of December 14, 2012 when 20 children and 6 adults were killed in a violent gunman attack, Amy Barnett founded the American Civility Association, Inc. The ACA creates brain-building programs, leadership training and safe school intervention events for students K-12. These educational programs include training components for educators, school counselors and parent/guardians. Amy and her team of educators, medical experts, neuroscientists, mental health specialists, authors and concerned business professionals have been on a mission to end school violence and bullying.
Amy has authored several programs under the multi-platform, interactive B.O.S.S. (Brainbuilder’s Operation Safe Schools) series that takes trainers, educators and their students on a journey into the world of civility and brain-building. B.O.S.S. is considered Kindness Literacy that strengthens mental health and is literally, changing lives and school cultures. As of 2019 school year, B.O.S.S. has reached over 25,000 students, educators and school counselors in Florida. The results are mentally healthy and happier kids, safer school campuses, and improved learning gains.
