P.O.M.E. Poetry Workshop Series

Product of My Environment (P.O.M.E.) is a 12 poem project that students will construct via free writing and performance workshops throughout the school year. Students will examine the history and cultural impact of the communities they are from as well as document the social and cultural impact they have had and intend to have on their environment. At the end of the workshop series, students will gain experiential knowledge of the copyright and self-publishing process as well as plan and facilitate a book signing/release at the Jacksonville Main Library.

Make and a Movie: Ocean's 8

The film, “Ocean’s 8” will be viewed. Teens will make art/crafts related to the film. They will design a reflection poster board, which portrays either a protagonist or an antagonist that serves as a remainder of a female in their lives and why during the film. Next, they will create a playing card with their picture on the front. These Personal Face Cards corresponding with the film will be put on display in the Teen Gallery during the month of February.
