The Women’s Center of Jacksonville (WCJ) is an area non-profit that improves the lives of women through advocacy, support, and education. As the only certified rape crisis center for Duval, Baker, and Nassau counties, WCJ provides advocacy, accompaniment, and information to survivors of sexual violence regardless of gender, age, or reporting status. Edwards, Bradshaw, and Hinsz’s 2014 study, “Denying Rape but Endorsing Forceful Intercourse,” went viral after presenting data that suggested one in three men would rape a woman if they could do so without repercussion, and without the action being called “rape.” Join us for a program discussing the limitations of this study, methodology that measures attitudes about rape, and the ambiguity of consent.
