Holocaust Collection

In 2004, WJCT Public Broadcasting launched Remembering for the Future: The Holocaust Legacy Continues. The Community Initiative promotes awareness and understanding of the Holocaust, increases multi-generational discussion, and has established a permanent Holocaust Collection for the First Coast at Jacksonville Public Library.

The Holocaust Collection contains materials relating to one of the most horrific events in human history. The collection includes books, photographs, recordings, films and other materials that will serve as a resource for youth and adults who wish to learn about the Holocaust and the consequences of prejudice, discrimination and intolerance.

Unique resources in the collection include the Shoah testimonies. In 1994, the Shoah Foundation was established by Steven Spielberg to document the experiences of survivors and other witnesses of the Holocaust. Sixteen testimonies of local survivors are available for JPL customers to check out in DVD format or to view online in streaming video/audio format.

The Holocaust Collection is located at the Main library in the Grand Reading Room. Materials can be checked out.
